NICE NEWS FROM THE 'NICE GROUP'

Some 700 million years after the solar system had formed 4.6 billion years ago, "a brief, violent cataclysmic affair" caused in it a "grerat reshuffling that not only put the outer planets where they are today, but also created the Kuiper Belt of small icy bodies beyond Neptune, gave the planets scores of oddly orbiting moons, and bombarded the solar system with a rain of asteroids and comets."

A quote from one of my books or presentations?

No - it is from an editorial in the journal Sciences (of 17 July 2009), reporting the latest research news from the planetary scientists studying "The most catastrophic scenario for such planet migration, dubbed the Nice Model (after the French city), which has been gaining ground of late. It envisions the great reshuffling as a brief, violent affair so fierce that it would have cooked all but the deepest subterranean life on early Earth."

The Nice Group began with the Violent Catastrophe theories first offered by the astronomer Alessandro Morbidelli of the Observatory of Cote d'Azur in Nice, France. Followers of this web site might recall the December 2003 article The Case of the French Astronomer in which it was shown that Morbidelli's ideas and orbital drawings were borrowed from the The Twelfth Planet - a book which he asserted he had never read...

Will one of my readers now please suggest to the latest members of the Nice Group to read The Twelfth Planet ? They are William Bourke and Harold Levison of the Southwest Research Institute in Boulder, Colorado; Rodney Gomes of the National Observatory in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, and Kleomenis Tsiganis of Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece. (They can all read my books in their own languages).
